Building on solid foundations
For 30 years, Barker Construction have built a solid reputation in the Yorkshire region for quality building services. Initially working on smaller projects, today Barker Construction Group work on multi-million-pound contracts and are trusted as lead contractors by their clients.
The problem Barker had, was that they were sending out the wrong message to potential clients. Their website talked about patios and small extensions – not about their capabilities and capacity to deliver on complex and prestigious projects. From swimming pools, to complete refurbishments – Barker operate in the premium end of the market, and their brand wasn’t helping build trust and reflect their expertise.
We worked closely with Barker Construction to understand the vision of the business. Then we designed a brand and marketing communications that support this.
After speaking with Barker’s team, we quickly understood that they specialised in three core areas:
- Residential + Refurbishment
- Commercial + Industrial
These divisions have clear target audiences, all with different goals and desires. Our recommendation was to create identities for each division, to signal their specialism and bring to life the individual departments.
Because we did this, we recommend Barker Construction call themselves Barker Construction Group – to signal the different divisions and present themselves as a group offering.
For the new brand identity, we knew the projects that Barker were set-up for and wanted to attract. We created a new brand identity that wasn’t too bold or standout like before, but something that reflected class and high quality.

Richard now feels the brand identity and website truly reflects the business as it is today. Previously he was embarrassed to send people to the website as it didn't signal the projects they work on. Already in early conversations with clients, the new image is opening doors and building confidence with their desired target audience.
