Are you looking for a brand naming agency?

Your business name can be an asset if you have a good one, or a complete liability if you get the wrong one.

Great names propel you forward, whilst bad names hold you back.

We help start-ups and established businesses create names to help drive commercial success.

Whatever reason you want a new name, we have the experience to help you. Some clients approach us to help with their name when they first start out, or some when they’ve grown up as a business and when they’ve outgrown their name.

Words are powerful, they evoke thoughts and associations in the mind of your audience. Some words sound fast, whilst some sound slow, some sound like a force to be reckoned with, whilst others sound soft and welcoming – so picking the right name for your business venture is essential.

Want help with naming your business? Book a consultation with one of our naming consultants today.

What does a naming agency even do?

Coming up with words is easy right? Yep, it is – but coming up with a name for your business is tough.

Naming a business means understanding the context. It means understanding the business, what the business does and where the business is going. You also need to understand your market. Who are you competing against and what choice the customers see?

Once all of the above is understood, then you need a name that is fit for purpose. The right name for your business can transform your fortunes, whilst the wrong name can have you dismissed without people even picking up the phone.

We create names that drive commercial impact. Names that help you get famous. Names that get you on the pitch list. Names that support your business strategy, and most importantly a name that you and your employees are proud to say they work for.

When should you appoint a brand naming agency?

Appointing a brand naming agency means you are ready for a change.

The naming process isn’t easy. If you are thinking about changing your name, you need to be at an inflection point and ready for change.

From our past experience, there are certain patterns when client’s know they have to change their name, here are just a few. Some clients have grown up as a business, and the name they started out with makes them sound small, and that perception may be holding them back. Some clients have changed so much as a business that their current name just doesn’t reflect who they are, today. Some clients have multiple names for whatever reason, and they need to simplify to their customers. Most of our clients have been told by their network, customers or even staff that their name isn’t right – but in most scenarios, they don’t realise this – because they are too close to the problem.

What are the effects of a name change?

Words that transform your business

Sometimes, something so simple, like the name of your business can have an enormous effect on how people see you. Over the years, working on many naming projects we’ve seen all kinds of effects after a name change. Some significant effects are as follows:

– You are taken more seriously
– You are more easily remembered
– Your name reflects an idea you stand for
– Your name changes perceptions
– Your name simplifies how you present yourself
– A new name can make you sound like a great company to work for

The power of words

Revolution starts with language

Words are magic. They can create value out of nowhere. Go sounds a lot different from start. Digital2000 sounds a lot different from SmartSource, and Monkey Commercials sounds radically different from FleetFinders.

Picking the right name for your business is a long-term asset that shouldn’t be overlooked. We’ve done this many times before, and have a bulletproof process for walking you and your team through the naming journey.

The latest technology

Smart technology for better business

Our team of talented website developers are constantly reviewing our technology stack to make sure we’re using the most powerful technology for our clients.

Most recently, we’ve worked on several integrations using ChatGPT AI to automate various parts of our client’s websites. From custom chatbots and enquiry forms to entire user-journeys – could you use better technology to drive sales or create efficiencies?

Whether it be automation, AI or using newer technologies like Hubspot, we can help you build better websites.

Technical sales website tools

Intelligent websites that drive revenue

Do you have a complicated product or service to sell? Does your website accelerate your sales process, or does it hinder it?

Nothing beats a face-to-face sales conversation but your website should help you in this process.

We’ve created many configurator websites for clients that make better sales presentations, but also allow prospective clients to view these in their own time. No hard-selling, just browsing at their own pace.

The Smith Naming Process

Naming is tough, time-consuming and harder than you think. The right name has to align to your business strategy and help you stand out. Here's how we do it.

Brand Creation

Generate

After understand what the name needs to do, and the market you operate in, we'd be in a position to start developing names. There's multiple types of naming approaches you could take, for instance combining words, making new words up, descriptive words and abstract concepts.

Naming Agency UK

Filter

Our naming consultants will generate hundreds of names for your business. At this stage, we will filter the names and present back our recommendations. Usually this looks like 20/30 different names. At this stage, we will have done initial checks on Google, domains and to see if there has been any trademarks.

When To Appoint A Naming Agency

Check

Once we've selected several names to the final list, this is where our naming consultants will do more thorough checks, and where we'd recommend a solicitor gets involved to look over trademark issues.
